I know, it could be worse. It could always be worse. But let me rant a little about how today has been......

So today, I was going to a local craft market of sorts, for the first time. I've only ever done conventions before. The morning started well, I was happy and preparing to leave, when I realize I completely forgot to get cash for my float (to use as change when people buy things) I was at the bank yesterday and everything! Taking the bus, I wouldn't have time to go by an ATM so I end up calling a taxi, thinking I'll make the $$$ back anyway, and its kind of nice since I had a bunch of stuff to carry.

We arrive, and the taxi driver is helping me unload. And the yanks my suit case handle like a crazy person and breaks it, and then zooms off...this was my first time using this suit case, and it wasn't cheap. But I figure I can probably exchange it...hopefully...so I go on with my day.

I get my table set up and prepare to get to work. (I always bring some sewing stuff to work on while I sit at my table) All three hats I brought required black thread to complete their tasks, and I forgot the black thread........I had it on my machine from something I was machine sewing and forgot to put it back into my bag. (and before anyone asks, yes orders are still closed. I was going to sell things I still have in stock, and the things I was sewing were orders that came in before I closed)

So I sit and wait. And wait. And wait.....no sales...still no sales.........at the end of a super stressful day of thinking I just wasted a lot of time and money, I at least finally made $40 in the last half hour of the market. I mean I still wasted my time, since the table cost was $20 and the taxi was $16, and material for what I sold is at LEAST $4 so there was no profit, but at least I didn't waste money too.

Then I have to drag all my stuff home. With my suit case's handle being broken, I can't just pull it nicely along, so I have to drag it along with my bin and 2 large bags. I really hurt one of my hands, at least I didn't bleed all over my stuff.

I finally get home, and my dog (for no apparent reason, since he doesn't do this kind of thing, ever) had decided to tear apart my large bag of stuffing so it was all over the living room and entry way.

Irony? The stuffing was out because I was making thinks I didn't sell any of, and I only took a taxi to have time to make it to the bank for change, and the only sale was $40 paid with two $20s. Oh yeah and I wouldn't have forgotten my black thread if I hadn't taken it out of my bag to sew something on my machine, and of course I didn't sell any of the things i had been sewing on the machine.

Oh yeah, and I missed two really great events today to go to the market instead.

My crafting stuff has never let me down before, it's always been phenomenal, so it's fair that I finally have an experience where I barely break even. I have learned that this craft market is really more for trinkets and cheap things, costing around $2-$10.

But what bothers me the most is that taxi driver breaking my suit case and my dog choosing the worst day ever to be a psycho. Here's to hoping I can exchange the suit case. I'd ask "could this day get any worse?" but let's not temp fate......

well if i learned anything about going to conventions and trying to make money.. if you dont enjoy yourself youre not going to have any fun, no amount of money is worth the time you spend on earth and if you do the math turns out money is just paper right? conventions have good times and fun people so hopefully next time you go you can maybe find a new friend if not some profit for the ride home :)
